While Derek Chauvin's 22.5 year sentencing shows a rare case of accountability served by those who use their power and privilege against people in marginalized communities, this is far from justice. As we continue to reflect on the past year since George Floyd’s death, we must keep in mind that Black and Brown communities aren’t safe from state sanctioned violence until true, meaningful action is taken towards reforming our law enforcement and criminal justice systems.

I'm glad he was held accountable but I feel like 22 years wasn't enough. Also his mother's testimony was sickening it was difficult to hear how blind she was to the harm her son has caused

His mother' s testimony was just disrespectful and disgusting @Stella
