Demand Establishment Of More Community Gardens In Houston's Underserved Areas
This petition is to call for the establishment of more community gardens in underserved areas across the city of Houston. In low-income communities across Houston, citizens lack access to supermarkets and nutritious foods and vegetables due to their socioeconomic status. People of these communities are susceptible to obesity and obesity-related diseases because their main source of food is from fast-food restaurants. Establishing more community gardens in these low-income communities will promote a healthy lifestyle for the members of the respective community and reduce the impact of food deserts by increasing the availability of nutritious produce. The city of Houston should do all in their power to eradicate the health inequities that are evident across the city.
Sign this petition to call for more community gardens to be established in underserved areas. Everyone should have access to nutritious fruit and vegetables.
